BC Wolves welcome Donatas Zavackas as new Sports Director

Experienced basketball management specialist Donatas Zavackas has been named as the new BC Wolves Sports Director and will oversee all the sports activities of the Vilnius-based club currently playing in its second season.

The position was previously held by Tomas Inčikas, who will now handle international project management and development of the Wolves organization. Tomas will also continue working on the club's board.

"Tomas assumed responsibility and duties at the most difficult time for the club when it was necessary to control the rapidly changing situation and make important decisions, as our young organization took its first steps. Now that things have stabilized, we need to pursue those activities where we can best utilize our competencies and knowledge. Tomas has accumulated solid experience in developing international relations and implementing projects in various countries. The export of Lithuanian basketball is one of the activities of our club. Therefore, Tom's experience and abilities will be particularly important here and will significantly contribute to the international development of our organization," said Wolves club president Rimantas Kaukėnas.

D. Zavackas joins the BC Wolves as its Sports Director after a stint with BC Rytas Vilnius where he held the same position. He made significant contributions to the club having won the Betsafe-LKL championship (2021-22), and most recently finished second in last season's tournament (2022-23) after losing to BC Zalgiris Kaunas in a tightly fought five-game series.

"We are glad that Donatas Zavackas, who has repeatedly achieved excellent results in the field of basketball management and has accumulated solid experience, has agreed to join the organization. The Wolves team has very ambitious goals, so we hope that this addition of a specialist known in the basketball community will help strengthen the sports aspect of the club. Donatas will be responsible for the implementation of the club's sports strategy, team building and player development, as well as communication between the club's administration and the team," said R. Kaukėnas.

He also served as Sports Director of BC Neptunas Klaipeda from 2017-2020 and was responsible for helping the said club to finish 3rd place (2017-2018, 2018-2019) in the Betsafe-LKL.

"The speed with which the Wolves organization entered the Lithuanian basketball market and strives to become one of the leading teams shows strong determination and great ambitions, which coincide with my personal aspirations to always achieve high goals. We discussed the vision of the club with its managers. I hope that my experience and accumulated knowledge will help the club move forward", said the new sports director of Wolves, D. Zavackas.
